Windsor, ON – NOVEMBER 10th, 2025:
Engage Windsor, a grassroots civic engagement and advocacy group, is raising concerns over the upcoming City Council meeting with MPPs and MPs, scheduled for 8am on Monday.
The meeting, unlike other Council meetings, will not be livestreamed. Engage says that the lack of public access continues Council’s growing comfortability with opaque and obscure governance.
“Holding this meeting at 8AM on a weekday, combined with no livestream, essentially shuts out hardworking Windsorites from participating and observing critical conversations”, says Rachael Travenetti, Board Treasurer of Engage Windsor.
This recent development closely follows Engage’s previous disappointments both with Council’s decision to combine Ward Meetings, and the City’s rollout of the recent “Council Meeting Time Survey”, which received little to no intentional promotion across the City’s communication channels and website.
“It is increasingly clear that Council has grown accustomed to – and frankly relies upon – a disinterested population to conduct its business, “ added Joshua Sankarlal, Co-Chair. “To lock working people out of a public meeting entirely is the most egregious demonstration of this to date”

Engage believes in advocacy through empowerment. Municipalities across Ontario run "Resident Satisfaction Surveys" that ask residents important questions about their quality of life, service satisfaction and budget priorities. The City of Windsor does not run these surveys, but with the municipal election approaching we thought it was more important than ever that we discuss these important topics with our community.
