Windsor residents should have access to affordable, safe and diverse housing options.
For many Canadians, access to safe and affordable housing is closer to a dream than it is reality. In large metropolitan areas such as Toronto, to smaller cities like Windsor, we are all facing the same challenges.
At the municipal level, access to affordable homes and safe living is greatly impacted by a lack of investment in infrastructure and planning decisions that neccessitate long distances between key destinations like grocery stores, pharmacies and school. We have eliminated choices and made driving a prerequisite for participation in society - for homeowners and renters alike.
To address these concerns at a local level, Engage is committed to continued discussions, advocacy and policy proposals that address the following
Inclusive Housing
City Council should demonstrate their commitment to mitigating the housing and affordability crisis by allowing gently densification and mixed-use developments as-of-right across the City.
Urban Design
Windsorites should be able to walk to core destinations without the use of a car. Street design should be accessible and incorporate CPTED principles.
Vision Zero
Walking in Windsor should not be dangerous, and City Council should work towards actualizing the Vision Zero Plan.
Our City, 
Engage believes in advocacy through empowerment. Municipalities across Ontario run "Resident Satisfaction Surveys" that ask residents important questions about their quality of life, service satisfaction and budget priorities. The City of Windsor does not run these surveys, but with the municipal election approaching we thought it was more important than ever that we discuss these important topics with our community.
